What Does God Want Us To Become?
“For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.” Romans 8:29, NKJV
We must take a high view of what God has done for us in designing the plan of salvation for a lost race!
The supreme work of Christ in redemption is not just to save us from hell, but to restore us to God-likeness again. Paul has confirmed this in Romans 8:29, “Whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son.”
While perfect restoration to His divine image will happen on the day of Christ’s appearing, the work of restoration is going on now. There is a slow but steady transformation of the base metal of human nature into the gold of Christ-likeness.
We have already moved from what we were to what we are, and we are now moving toward what we shall be. To become conformed into the likeness of the character of Christ is and must be the supreme goal of all moral creatures.
While driving the other day, I came upon a construction zone. At the beginning of the construction zone, was a worker motioning for us to keep moving. You and I are driving through a spiritual construction zone. God is doing the work upon each of us. He wants us to keep moving through the construction process till we reach the other end.
