Just Drop It And Move On
“Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake.” Matthew 5:11, NKJV
What’s the best thing to do when others tell lies about you or talk ugly to you or about you?
Before I answer that, let me tell you what the great temptation is.
The great temptation would be revenge; how can we get even with this hateful person? What could we say about them that would hurt them as bad as or even worse than they hurt us?
It is important that we not fall into the devil’s trap of revenge.
If we decide to follow him into this trap, we are doing nothing more than lowering ourselves to their level. The Christian must always take the high road.
We need to remind ourselves of this verse; “not returning evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary blessing, knowing that you were called to this, that you may inherit a blessing.” 1 Peter 3:9, NKJV
The most productive thing for us to do in these situations is to ignore the talk and move on. Is that easy? No! But it is the best thing we can do for ourselves.
Be encouraged today in knowing that vengeance belongs to the Lord. He will repay. Let Him handle the situation and personally just move on. Vengeance never satisfies us like we think it will.
