Pride Does Come Just Before The Fall
“Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” Matthew 26:41, NKJV
Over the many years of pastoring and counselling, I have seen more than just a few good Christians that had been a Christian for a long time and were solid in their commitments to the Lord and their church, make a horrible decision in a moment of weakness and their lives were changed and their families devastated.
Never say; “That would never happen to me”. Those are words that are spoken by pride. It can happen to any of us on any day, almost in the twinkling of an eye.
Our scripture warns us today to “Watch and pray”. Never take your faith for granted. Never take your spiritual growth for granted. Never take your lofty position at church for granted. Never take your daily “God time” for granted.
The spirit may indeed be willing, more than willing even, but the flesh is still just flesh and the flesh is weak. And that makes us a perfect prey for the hunter; satan himself.
Although Satan conducts guerrilla warfare and still possesses deadly weapons of unbelief, doubt, and temptation, he has been confronted and defeated at the foot of the cross by Jesus Christ.
You can resist the devil. You can overcome his temptations and live an abundant, overcoming Christian life. You can! You can! You can!
