“…….and they shall become one flesh.” Genesis 2:24, NKJV
I’m grateful each and every day of my life. The Lord taught me that attitude some years ago. However, maybe today I’m more grateful than other days. Today I have been married to Deborah for 50 years. That comes to 600 months or 18,250 days or 438,000 hours or 25,920,000 minutes or 1,555,200,000 seconds.
I’ve been blessed by God to spend that much time with someone that I not only love but someone that I really like to be around. I cannot even think what it would be like to not have her in my life even for just one of those fleeting seconds.
Genesis 2:24 says; “……..and they shall become one flesh.” This is God’s hopes and plans for every man and woman when they marry. I have been blessed to have that experience with Deborah.
It is a process and does not happen with just the “I do”. There’s far more giving than getting if a husband and wife ever want to see that kind of relationship.
We were blessed with a daughter, Kim and a son, Joey. Each one of them brought into our lives their own love. Kim brought us Kevin and Joey brought us Lara. Both of them are more like another son and daughter instead of just “in-laws”.
Then they brought even more into our lives with their own children, our grandchildren. Kim and Kevin brought into this world Brannon and Britton. Joey and Lara brought into this world Collin and Cade. They all have brought tremendous joy to our lives. To say I’m blessed is an understatement.
There have been some rough times as there are in any marriage. On any scale the good times far outweigh the rough times.
I take no credit for this 50 year journey with Deborah. The credit must first go to God and then to Deborah. I have seen her sacrifice herself for me, her children, her grandchildren, and the church she served for almost 30 years.
Thank you Deborah for your servant heart and thank you God for bringing Deborah into my life; may God pour out His blessings on you.
Happy Anniversary Deborah
