Be Sure You Are Connected

“I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit…” John 15:5, NKJV

The word connected has become commonplace in our society. We are connected to the internet by being connected to a wifi connection. We are connected to a social media site. We are connected to family, friends and work by being connected through our cell phones that are connected to a cell phone tower.

The list could go on. Some churches have used this word to connect their members to one another and to the Lord. This is a very wise use of this word in my opinion.

The scripture for the day speaks to the subject of being connected; connected to the Lord Jesus Christ.

He is the vine; we are the branches. The two are connected but not one. The common denominator in nature is the sap.

The sap is the life of the vine and its branches. Cut off the flow of sap to the branch, and it slowly withers and dies.

As the branch draws its life from the vine, so we draw life from Christ. To abide in Christ is to draw upon His life. His life is made available through the connection that we have with the Holy Spirit in our lives.

Be sure you are connected and stay connected to Jesus Christ. He is the life that flows through our body, mind and spirit.
