Lord, Heal Our Land!
“But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power…” 2 Timothy 3:1-5
These are troubled days in which we are living. Wrong is treated as right and right is treated as wrong. America has lost its moral compass and our society is drifting ever so quickly toward a social meltdown.
The Bible told us these days would come. The Apostle Paul wrote this letter to young Timothy in the 1st century A.D. Under the leadership of the Holy Spirit, Paul warned Timothy and the rest of the world that in the last days perilous times would come.
Those perilous times are here. The words in these verses are no longer Bible prophecy for they have become a reality in the daily life of America.
Political leaders and their parties seem to have little or no influence on the decline of the American values that have held this country together for over 200 years. Political leaders seem to have no desire to lead this country back to God.
America needs to realize that the answer to this current situation is not political but spiritual. The politics of America have collapsed into little more than bickering. The social condition of America is a tender box of hatred looking for a reason to be offended.
If the solution will not come from politics, and I don’t believe it ever will because you cannot legislate morality or national unity; the answer will have to include a move of Almighty God.
I will close with the answer for our nation that God has provided for us in scripture:
“If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14, NKJV
