Five Essentials Of Giving Thanks
Essential Number Three – Forgiveness
“Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.” Matthew 5:23-24, NKJV.
The third essential of “Giving Thanks” is forgiveness.
Our verse for today reminds us of the Biblical fact that before we bring our gift to the altar, things are to bring right between us and other people.
This gift that He refers to us bringing to the altar could refer to money, worship, or even thanksgiving. Those are all gifts that we bring to the altar of God.
Is there someone in your life that needs your forgiveness? It could be someone who has hurt or offended you that you just need to forgive.
I have always said, “Forgiveness is more for you than the person you might need to forgive”. You will receive more than they will when you forgive them.
As we give our thanks, let’s be sure that we have made things right between us and others before we place of thanksgiving on the altar of God.
