Who Do We Think We Are?
“Lord, what is man, that You take knowledge of him? Or the son of man, that You are mindful of him? Man is like a breath; His days are like a passing shadow. Psalm 144:3-4, NKJV
Our scripture for today gently but powerfully reminds us of the humility we should have in the presence of almighty God. So many today mock God and the things of God. David asks the question; “What is man that you would take knowledge of him?”
We stand and we boat of our name and our accomplishments and too easily forget that those things can be taken away from us as easily as they were given to us.
Pride has a way of changing our attitude about who we are and about what we are. In reality, our days are but a passing shadow in this creation. Except for God’s love for man, God would have little reason to even acknowledge man. But He does.
He does so in a powerful way by becoming man Himself in the person of Jesus Christ.
On a clear night, look at the vastness of the stars and realize how awesome God really is. We, as mankind, would do well to remember God’s Glory and power and recognize Him as the Supreme Being and creator of the entire universe.
He is God in and over all of heaven and earth. Give Him praise today for His creation and His endless love for you.
