No More Sad Goodbyes
“…there shall be no more death…” Revelation 21:4, NKJV
I have a record of every funeral I have performed over 36 years of full time ministry. I won’t quote the number here but it is many.
I have listened to many “sad goodbyes” as I stood at the side of the coffin holding the hand of a family member desperately trying to say goodbye.
For the Christian, we really never experience or feel the sting of death for scripture tells us; “to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord”. There is nothing in between. Faster than you can blink your eye, the Christian steps from this life to life eternal with the Lord.
I look forward to no more sad goodbyes. I look forward to the eternity of laughter and joy that heaven will bring when families are reunited for all eternity.
As you read this today, be encouraged in knowing that there is a reunion in your future. It is a reunion that you will have with every family member and friend that you have had to say goodbye to while standing at the edge of their coffin.
