Don’t Get Stuck In The Past
“….But one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead….” Philippians 3:13, NKJV
Have you ever gotten your car stuck in the mud or slid off the road because of snow and found yourself stuck?
Have you ever found yourself “stuck” in the past? Stuck in the past would mean you cannot move past something that happened to you in the past.
Maybe you were wronged by another person or maybe someone said something cruel to you or about you and you cannot seem to move past it.
Maybe someone has been unkind to your children and you have not been able to forgive or forget their unkindness.
Maybe something unpleasant happened in your past and you still blame God for the situation and cannot move past the hurt and the disappointment you have toward God.
In our scripture for today, we are encouraged to forget and let go of those events that we are emotionally tied to in our past and move forward to those good and better things that await you in the future.
We are stuck in the past if we cannot let go of the situation. We will never move forward and we will never experience the good things God has for us in the future if we will not let go of the past.
It’s a helpless feeling when we are stuck in the mud or snow and cannot move forward. Likewise, it is a hopeless feeling when we are stuck in the past and cannot move forward with our lives.
Take advantage of this New Year’s Eve and let go of the past and claim the good things that God has for you in the future.
Happy New Year!
