“…and they sent out Barnabas to go as far as Antioch. When he came and had seen the grace of God, he was glad, and encouraged them all that with purpose of heart they should continue with the Lord. For he was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and of faith. And a great many people were added to the Lord.” Acts 11:23-34, NKJV
The Name Barnabas means, “Son of Encouragement”. He was an encourager and because of his encouragement, the church at Antioch had much growth and many people were added to the Lord.
We too, can be an encourager and not a discourager. We can literally choose what kind of spirit we will have each day. We can ask ourselves, “Am I going to encourage people today or am I going to discourage people today?”
If we have the spirit of encouragement, people will be glad to see us come. If we have the spirit of discouragement, people will be glad to see us leave.
You will feel better about yourself when you see that, by your encouragement, you have made other people feel better about themselves.
Be encouraged today by encouraging others. Decide to be an encourager and refuse to be a discourager. You will feel much better about yourself. Try it!
Only By Grace,
